The route has breathtaking scenery, alpine lakes, corkscrew roads with peaks descending into beautifull valleys. You will ride through Triglav National Park, on the narrow road that leads through verdant farmland with traditional villages, enjoying beautifull mountain chain view along the abandond railway.
Vršič is a high mountain pass across the Julian Alps at 1,611 m and the highest one in Slovenia. The road ascends from Kranjska Gora in a sieries of 24 hairpins and descends in the valley of Soča river in another 26.
The road across the pass, named Russian road (Ruska cesta), was built for the military purposes in the early 19th century.
